Become A Part Of Something Important!
We are always on the lookout for musicians who can play
in a variety of styles. If you or someone you know is
interested in joining the military and think you have
the skills necessary to be an Army musician, contact
us. There are several steps to serving in the U.S.
Army and additional steps for serving in the U.S. Army
Band Program. Army Band personnel perform the same Basic
Training and must meet the same standards as all U.S.
Army personnel. Below is a brief outline of joining the
126 Army Band:

Schedule an audition.
Not everyone passes their audition on the first try,
but the feedback received can help musicians determine
what areas need more improvement for further auditions.
Determine if you are fit for duty in the U.S. Army.
Enlist in the U.S. Army and complete Basic Training
(9 weeks). All musicians who pass the audition enlist
with the rank of Specialist (E-4).
Complete four weeks of On The Job Training (OJT) at
the School of Music.
Attend monthly drills and two weeks of Annual Training (AT).
Audition Requirements
Scales and arpeggios in all keys, major and all minor
modes.
A prepared piece of your choosing that demonstrates your strengths as a player.
Sight-reading from the band's current repertoire.
